On Friday 16th September Sheffield-based Software Company 3Squared welcomed the Lord Lieutenant, Mr Andrew Coombe, the Queen’s representative in South Yorkshire, to present the citation and scroll to staff to mark their achievement of the Queen’s Award for Innovation.
The Lord Lieutenant met James Fox, Commercial Director and Tim Jones, Managing Director at the company’s Fountain Precinct offices and was introduced to the 40-strong team of software designers, developers, testers and support staff who have all played a key role in the company securing this prestigious business accolade.
3Squared has been recognised in the awards for the major efficiencies its RailSmart suite of Apps has brought for train operating companies. Many rail companies have reported significant cost savings and improved operational efficiency as a direct result of the software which monitors and records the competency of train drivers and other staff.
James Fox, Commercial Director at 3Squared, said: “It was an honour to welcome the Lord Lieutenant to our business to present this accolade to our whole team. Achieving the much coveted Queen’s Award for Innovation is a major milestone in our business as we strive towards enabling rail companies to take advantage of the latest technology to enhance safety. It’s not just one or two of our staff who have played a part in this, it’s been a real team effort, with everyone involved in making RailSmart the success it has become already.”
James continued: “It’s not every day that we welcome her Majesty’s representation to our office and this visit was the culmination of what has been a fantastic year for us. It has been a truly memorable celebration that reflects the great achievement of our people who should be really proud of themselves”.
